A good story about a young man that traveled to his hometown to see his first love and sell his home
The story one was very good but it was hard to keep up with the characters and there quirks. The ending made up for all the rest and I give this book four stars. Still love this author duo.

I liked the story and felt for Alan, he seemed to be negative a lot of the time. I didn't quite understand his high school relationship with Rita, it seemed to end before it began. Rita was never really with him in public and I don't feel that was every really explained. There was a scene in the beginning were he was talking to an old classmate and she told him how Rita had told her that she was going to marry Alan, I almost feel like the author forgot about that part when she continued with the story.
I felt the author got too detailed in some of the descriptions. In the beginning ,she also continued to reiterate certain things that did not need to be, this got better though, later in the book.
I disliked Nicole, which was probably the point. She was very cold towards him and didn't even try to help with their relationship. I understood everyrging revolved one issue, and I didn't understand the whole "natural " thing. If she wanted it that bad i think an alternate option should of been tried, just one. I felt it was contradictory, she wanted it so bad but was not willing to try other options.
Other readers have mentioned the power of the love story and the compelling characters, but what I appreciated even more was the beauty of the language and the gorgeous imagery. This is a story that never becomes sentimental or cliched, and there are many moments I stopped to reread a description of an emotion or setting because it was so striking. A very moving novel.
Wanting Rita is second novel I've read by Elyse Douglas. It grabbed me from the first chapter and I could not put it down, could not, it is very moving. It just kept getting better and better. It has suspense (how will this love affair end?) and love. What could be better then that? I liked picturing where Alan James was in many of the NYC scenes, since I've been to those neighborhoods.
So well written, wonderful story, characters who ring true and whom you care about. This book has an epic feel to it. Hard to stop reading and do other things. A must read even for those who like fiction other than the romance genre. I can't believe this was a kindle free book. Many parts of the story are powerful in their illuminating profound truths of life, love, heartache, highs and lows, self esteem, self perception, small towns, social stratification, pain in teen years, disillusionment, faith, honesty, growth, suffering, death...the whole range of emotions we feel in a lifetime. Nothing about this book is disappointing.
Very nicely written, kept my interest, great descriptions. I could vividly see everything that was being described. The words painted beautiful pictures so that the story could unwind and keep me engaged in the lives of the main characters. I couldn't help but "cheer" for the characters in their quest for peace and love. A satisfying and enjoyable read.
